Compact Size / Modular Features

At only 74" wide by 83.5" long by 70.3" tall (with the cover open), the LMC chassis is extremely compact and requires a minimal amount of floor space. Other laser machines with fixed optics and a moving platform can require at least four times as much floor space.

The framework for our machines is composed of precisely machined and heavy gauge steel and aluminum components. The rigid and light weight structure (only 1,600 lbs) is designed with separate compartments for the water cooled laser and related power supplies and the sealed electronics compartment.

Class I Safety

The cutting area is enclosed by a steel reinforced, polycarbonate safety cover. This allows viewing of the cutting area while preventing exposure to laser radiation.

All safety covers are interlocked. If they are opened during cutting, the laser stops, the safety shutter closes, all motion stops and current is removed from the motors. All interlock switches are redundant in case a switch fails. The safety covers also have serpentine seals to prevent light leaks.

Pass-Through

The material to be cut rests on an aluminum honeycomb surface. The cutting bed moves vertically for focusing and allows a 12" clearance of tall parts or fixturing. The cutting pallet is also removable and mounted on precise rollers.

The front and rear doors of the machine open up and down to allow a complete pass-through. This can be used for removing the pallet (from the front or back), or using an extended pallet. This feature provides easy access to the entire cutting bed and allows for factory automation, with either an automatic pallet loader or a conveyor belt going right through the machine.

The Lumen DCC-9000-PA also includes a pallet loading system that brings a higher level of throughput and efficiency to our customers. Operators can load both pallets at once, begin the cutting job, and move on to the next task. Because the automatic pallet exchange allows a single operator to run several machines simultaneously, or perform other tasks while the job is running, the result is a dramatic reduction in operating hours and cost savings compared to traditional cutting methods.

Exhaust

Our machines have a dual-channel exhaust system. Mounted to the bottom of the platform is a vacuum pump. The vacuum creates hold-down pressure for the material being cut. There is a secondary exhaust port above the work surface in the back of the machine. This port and the vacuum pump are connected to an external exhaust fan, usually mounted outside the building. The upper exhaust port draws air across the cutting bed in a laminar flow. The top safety cover contains a baffled vent. This allows air to come into the machine without allowing laser light to escape. The secondary exhaust removes residual fumes and smoke from cutting.
